This book is a logical and welcome successor to the author's previous monograph published in 1959. It combines a broad-brush as well as a detailed analysis of various points and controversies within the aldosterone literature.
Two criticisms are offered. The book, published in 1975, has references up to 1973 and, therefore, provides a two-year hiatus until publication. This is only a minor problem since the time prior to 1973 is handled so well. A second criticism relates to the magnitude of proofing such a work. There are several discrepancies in the text that should alert the reader to verify certain statements if they are to be used for reference. For example, pages 123 to 125 of the section entitled "Mechanism of Action" contain four incorrect word substitutions. These include the use of mitochondrial rather than microsomal in one sentence and the use of RNA instead of protein and vice versa
