This latest volume in the Albert Brest series Cardiovascular Clinics is a compendium of review-type articles surveying the methods useful in cardiac diagnosis. As in other multiauthored works, these presentations are somewhat uneven; there are many excellent articles, with recent references and helpful illustrations; some contributions are good summaries of recent developments; a few are representations of tired material.

There is little or no new information in the book, but the completeness of presentation of several of the topics has much to recommend it to potential readers. Moreover, gathering and reorganization of data from disease sources has resulted in informative and readable sections. The attempt to cover the range of cardiology diagnosis is an honest one, and the result as a whole is impressive.

Injustice must devolve from analysis of separate sections of the book. The section on the use of isotopes is informative and especially, though temporarily, complete. The
