This book includes ten chapters that review, in depth, various aspects of reproductive function. The chapters deal with animal studies and with studies and topics clinically relevant to humans. In general, the chapters are well written, detailed, and have an adequate number of figures and tables to facilitate comprehension of the text material. Adequate background material for each chapter, chronology of scientific progress in a given area, and reviews of relevant conflicting studies are strong points of this book. The book covers widely divergent topics, including seminal vesicles, polyamines, uterine contractility, aging and androgens, fetal CNS development, narcotics and reproduction, adrenal/gonadal influences, estrogen biosynthesis, vasectomy, and gestational diethylstilbestrol.

There were several typographical errors in chapter one, and a few of the conclusions and summaries at the end of chapters are sketchy. Overall, this is an up-to-date, good, reference and review book.
