I read with interest the review article on restless legs syndrome, which appeared in the February 12, 1996, issue of the Archives.1I have suffered from this benign syndrome for 40 years (when I first developed it as a medical student, always assuming the worst, I thought it was amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and find that it can usually be aborted with 500 or, occasionally, 1000 mg of acetaminophen. I also find that, if not aborted, a headache often develops 1 or 2 hours afterward.
