Captopril Is an Unlikely Cause of Nephrotic Syndrome

Madaio and Harrington list captopril as a major cause of nephrotic syndrome in their review of the diagnosis of glomerular diseases.1 Publications supporting captopril-induced nephrotic syndrome appeared in the 1980s after the introduction of the drug. Subsequent data have failed to support this concept.2
