Brief Reviews

Arch Intern Med. 1968;122(5):465. doi:10.1001/archinte.1968.00040010465034

This is another of the superb Wistar Institute symposia. Twenty-six contributors representing a variety of biological disciplines discuss 12 aspects of mammalian surface membrane physiology. Lively, enlightened discussions follow each of the papers. A generous dispersal of photomicrographs and phase contrast micrographs facilitate comprehension of some of the rather complex data. This is grist for the cellular physiologist, immunologist, enzymologist, physical chemist, and organic chemist. It is a bit heady for most clinicians.
