In August, 1906, in a preliminary communication, published in the American Journal of the Medical Sciences, I described a new intestinal parasite of man, which, because of its life-history, I included in the genus Paramœba, established by Schaudinn, naming the organism Paramœba hominis. The object of the present paper is to record further observations on this interesting parasite and to call attention to its probable occurrence in patients suffering from chronic diarrhea, in which the attacks alternate with periods of constipation, thus resembling quite closely the clinical picture of the form of dysentery due to the invasion of the intestine by Entamœba histolytica.
