Medications Impair Kidney Function in Stroke Population

Arch Neurol. 2009;66(3):416-421. doi:10.1001/archneurol.2008.571

I read with interest the article by Ovbiagele.1 A number of participants have metabolic syndrome. I was wondering if the author is aware of many medications that deteriorate renal function24 and that are widely prescribed in such a population, such as angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, rosuvastatin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (including high doses of aspirin). Failure to ask patients about such drugs would bias the results of the study.
