Abstract

• Polyneuropathy presented as isolated respiratory muscular paralysis. Transdiaphragmatic pressure measurements, nerve conduction studies, electromyography, and biopsy of intercostal muscle confirmed the nature of the process. Patients with unexplained respiratory insufficiency must be carefully evaluated for underlying neuromuscular disease.
