This 12th in a series of reports on the "Princeton" conferences on stroke contains papers presented at the conference in Williamsburg, Va, in March 1980. It includes sections on migraine and hematologic studies, surgery, and barbiturate therapy in the treatment of stroke. Advances in diagnostic studies (positron emission tomography, nuclear magnetic resonance, cerebral blood flow, computed tomographic scanning, and ultrasonic imaging) are included. The lag from presentation until publication dates some of the material, in particular the diagnostic studies, in which there has been advancement during the last two years. However, this monograph remains a valuable addition to the libraries of all neurologists and neurosurgeons who treat patients with cerebrovascular disease.
