Professors Fischer and Brotchi, with the help of 30 contributors, present their collaborative experience in the management of intramedullary spinal cord tumors. The book is an updated translation of the French original published in Paris in 1994. Although the book is amply referenced, the main strength is the personal experience of the authors. This includes their data on 171 patients with intraparenchymal spinal cord tumors treated by the authors during a 29-year period. This represents the largest series written in the English language on this subject. The focus of the book is predominantly clinical, with a problemsolving approach based on collaborative, multidisciplinary work of neuroradiologists, neuropathologists, neurologists, and neurosurgeons. The text is magnificently illustrated; of special interest are the gross pictures taken from necropsies as well as intraoperatively.
