Patients with chronic neurologic diseases represent a growing segment of the population whose management is usually neglected by traditional neurologic education. This multiauthored text provides an epidemiologic background and framework with which to manage the ongoing issues facing those with chronic neurologic disease. We in neurology need to move away from simply diagnosing diseases to directing their ongoing care, and this is a much-needed synopsis of the philosophy and approaches to management of chronic disease.
