by Allan H. Ropper, MD, and Martin A. Samuels, MD, DSc(Hon), 1572 pp, $159, ISBN 0-07-149992-X, New York, New York, McGraw-Hill, 2009.
This is the latest and best iteration of a venerable and well-established textbook of neurology. Drs Ropper and Samuels have managed to update the text without losing anything of the original intent, now called on the back cover, “The Definitive Guide to the Full Spectrum of Neurology.”
The book is presented in 1 volume, weighs about 7 lbs, has 1572 pages, and is about 2½ inches thick, so it’s not something to carry around, but more something to use for a review of a subject with the book solidly based on a table!
