In reading the article titled "A Simple Model for Demonstrating Abnormal Slitlamp Findings" by William R. Morris, MD, in the January issue of the ARCHIVES (Arch Ophthalmol. 1998;116:93-94), I recalled that an almost identical system was in use in the eye clinic at the University of California San Francisco Medical School more than 30 years ago. I am certain that Dr Morris was unaware of this, as I do not believe that a report was ever published.
I believe, but am uncertain, that the system was devised by Samuel Kimura, MD. The vials were available at several sites in the clinic and were used by new residents and medical students.
