To the Editor Daien et al1 present retrospective data on the rate of endophthalmitis among 3 351 401 eyes of 2 434 008 patients who underwent cataract surgery. Their study1 was conducted in France between 2010 and 2014. Interestingly, another French postoperative endophthalmitis (POE) study was recently published by Creuzot-Garcher et al.2 This retrospective study2 was based on 6 371 242 eyes of 3 983 525 patients who underwent cataract surgery and conducted in France between 2005 and 2014. Thus, Daien et al1 appear to have analyzed the same data, from 2010 to 2014, as presented by Creuzot-Garcher et al.2 The publication of 2 studies based on the same data in 2 major ophthalmic journals within 3 months may be unusual but provides a rare opportunity to compare results.
