4th ed, by M. Bruce Shields, MD, 573 pp, with illus, Baltimore, Md, Williams & Wilkins, 1998.
As this is the fourth edition of a very successful textbook, few additions or changes have been made. I was relieved to discover this, as I have come to rely on the third edition for teaching residents and for concise summaries of problem cases I encounter in my practice.
Three major changes have been made: chapters on prostaglandins and drainage implant devices have been updated, 1440 new references have been added, and a companion book, Color Atlas of Glaucoma, has been published.
