6th ed, by Gunter K. von Noorden, MD, and Emilio C. Campos, MD, 672
pp, with illus, $149, ISBN 0-323-01129-2, St Louis, Mo, Mosby, 2002.
This is the most comprehensive textbook currently available on strabismus.
Since its first publication in 1974 by Hermann M. Burian and Gunter K. von
Noorden, this book has maintained the tradition of being a thoroughly researched,
heavily referenced text.
The most important change made since the fifth edition is the addition
of coauthor Emilio Campos, who offers a European perspective on this material.
Another major difference is the breakup of the chapter on sensory adaptation
into 3 separate chapters, with the designation of amblyopia to its own chapter.
Also, a new chapter has been added on botulinum toxin, which is justified
considering its increasing role in the management of strabismus.
