Arch Ophthalmol. 1999;117(4):551. doi:

This comprehensive cornea text underwent its first complete revision since the original title appeared 10 years ago. The initial edition quickly became a standard in the field of cornea and external disease. The second edition promises current knowledge and expert wisdom in the diagnosis and management of anterior segment disease.

The book begins with a brief introductory section on basic science that succinctly catalogs anterior segment anatomy, physiology, and immunology in less than 100 pages. Here, too, the reader can hope to find up-to-date, fundamental information instead of an exhaustive review. Most readers would find this section highly informative.
