Graves Ophthalmopathy

Arch Ophthalmol. 1999;117(5):700. doi:

Data presented by Keltner1 from the work of Bartalena et al2 conflict with my findings. Of 113 patients with endocrine exophthalmos seen by me in the past 7 years (Table 1), 71 were treated with radioiodine and 62 were treated with other antithyroid medications. My data show no real difference in outcome between the 2 groups except for a higher incidence of diplopia and limitation of ocular motility in the radioiodine-treated group.
