This is an excellent 2-volume resource on retinal diseases for residents, fellows, and practicing clinicians. The editors have successfully achieved their stated goals of presenting new developments in retinal molecular biology, genetics, immunology, and instrumentation. This comprehensive resource contains chapters that not only are well-written, but also are accompanied by excellent clinical photographs and histopathological photomicrographs.
The contributors are well-known and respected authors in their field. Each author discusses the appropriate results and conclusions of clinical trials related to the retinal condition presented in the chapter. The major subdivisions of retinal diseases (macular, retinal vascular, inflammatory, infectious, hereditary, neoplastic, toxic, traumatic) are included and reviewed thoroughly within several chapters. The authors present applications of fluorescein angiography, indocyanine green angiography, electrophysiologic testing, ocular coherent tomography, and ultrasonography for diagnosis and evaluation of retinal conditions.
