As the president of the 75-member National Council of Private Agencies for the Blind and Visually Impaired, I applaud the editorial by Drs Tasman and Rovner in the April 2004 issue of the ARCHIVES.1 It is only through “treating the whole patient” that individuals experiencing age-related vision loss can maintain their independence and quality of life.
