Burton J. Kushner, MD, won the 2005 Alfred W. Bressler Prize in Vision Science awarded by The Jewish Guild for the Blind, New York, NY. The Guild's Bressler Committee of prominent ophthalmologists, optometrists, and vision scientists from this country's foremost vision care agencies and universities chose Dr Kushner after careful review of all of the nominees and their accomplishments. Dr Kushner of the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Wisconsin Medical School, Madison, was awarded the $30 000 prize at a ceremony in New York in October 2005. Dr Kushner's past and present achievements include major academic and clinical contributions to vision rehabilitation for both children and adults.
