In his preface, editor-in-chief Chong-Lye Ang, medical director of the Singapore National Eye Centre and clinical associate professor on the Faculty of Medicine at the National University of Singapore, states that this major textbook was 2 years in the making. First, it sets out to distill and summarize in 1 major text the cumulative experience of the center's clinicians, clinician-scientists, and researchers with Asian eye diseases. In keeping with this, individuals connected with the center have written the book. Second, it aims to describe the principles of diagnosis and management of major eye conditions with an emphasis on Asian data and experience.
