Management of Orbital Compartment Syndrome—Reply

Arch Ophthalmol. 2007;125(3):434. doi:10.1001/archopht.125.3.434-a

I would like to thank Drs Hatton and Rubin for their interest in our article. While we believe that cantholysis and canthotomy can be helpful in cases of increased orbital tension, the clinical examination of the patient should also be taken into account.

In our case, the orbital situation seemed stable and nonprogressive and a canthotomy would not necessarily have precluded further overnight intraorbital pressure rise.
