Abstract

The author of this new text in optics has had a wide experience in teaching optics. In this book he collects the many contributions he has made and presents the usual material from a fresh point of view. Not all his observations and recommendations will be agreed to, but they are all stimulating and help to point up how little we really know about some very elementary subjects with which we are constantly dealing.

The book is well printed and adequately illustrated. It is recommended for those who already have sufficient knowledge of optics to weigh for themselves some of the controversial issues.
