American Academy of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology.  —The Home Study Courses in the basic sciences related to ophthalmology and otolaryngology, offered as a part of the educational program of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, will begin on Sept. 1 and continue for a period of 10 months. Registrations must be completed before Aug. 15. Detailed information and application forms may be secured from Dr. William L. Benedict, executive secretary-treasurer of the Academy, 100 First Ave., Bldg., Rochester, Minn.


Appointment of Dr. Harold G. Scheie.  —Dr. Scheie has been appointed Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, effective March 1, 1953.
