Abstract

This short book describes the author's operation for contracted socket. The first chapter deals with the causes of contraction of the socket, and this is followed by a short history of orbitoplasty. In the author's operation a full-thickness graft is kept in place in the enlarged socket by means of a special instrument. The instrument itself consists of two metal pieces which can be separated a variable distance and the separation maintained by a screw clamp. The operation is described in detail, and 104 cases are documented.

Although written in German, the book should be valuable for all interested orbitoplasty.
