Abstract

This handbook consists of two parts; in the first half the authors discuss the basic fundamentals of ocular therapeutics, including the physiologicals, pharmacologicals and clinical aspects of antibiotic therapy, glaucoma treatment, and the application of steroids in ophthalmology. These basic concepts of treatment are extremely well covered and should be indispensable for the beginning ophthalmologist or those still in residency training programs. This first half of the book will not become out-dated very rapidly because it deals with sound fundamental principles of ophthalmic treatment that do not change appreciably from year to year.

The second half of this handbook describes the individual therapeutic agents with considerable accuracy, stressing the practical clinical aspect of each drug or therapeutic approach. Due to the rapidly changing nature of medical therapeutics in general, one can expect that the second part of this book will become out-dated in a few years.
