Abstract

Dr. Laval's letter was referred to Dr. Kwitko, who offers the following reply:

To the Editor:  Dr. Laval has unfortunately concluded after reading my paper, "A Simplified Treatment for Entropion," that I have attempted to describe an original operation. The paper was written in such a way as to specifically credit those ophthalmologists who had informed me about the procedure verbally and in print.The operation was brought to my attention by a colleague, Dr. Katherine Kral, who suggested I use it in a patient who had had two previous and more elaborate entropion operations without success. Dr. Kral had performed this operation for many years, and described it to me in detail. For this she was credited in the footnote. I operated on the patient in my office with an excellent result, and was impressed with the ease with which a cure was obtained in this case. Since then
