This text is a complete report of the proceedings of the Third Symposium on Uveitis, sponsored by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, in 1963. One of the Foundation's goals has been to bring together for an interchange of ideas investigators actively working on the problems of uveitis and scientists from other but related disciplines. This has been admirably achieved for the panel of participants is almost evenly divided between ophthalmologists and nonophthalmologists including rheumatologists and immunologists. The symposium was organized as a series of 18 formal short presentations each followed by an active open discussion. Much of the material presented in this volume has not appeared in print before which makes this book even more rewarding.
