The 1966 edition of the Transactions of the Pacific Coast Oto-ophthalmological Society continues to represent one of the leading combined eye and ear groups in a most outstanding fashion. The articles are well selected and carefully written. President Miller's address about the history of eye and ear medicine from the early days of the western migration is one of the best. The otolaryngological articles are pertinent, involving cobalt-60 teletherapy and cryosurgery for various abnormalities. The ophthalmological content of the book is almost completely devoted to retinal diseases and their therapy, but these articles are excellent and well worth reading. Central serous retinopathy, RLF, retinoschisis, and retinal vascular lesions are reviewed from an etiologic and therapeutic viewpoint and several noteworthy suggestions made. The volume is recommended highly to the well-informed oto-ophthalmologist.
