Developmental Giant Retinal Tears Associated With Lens Coloboma

Abstract

Eight cases of bilateral retinal detachment associated with nasal coloboma of the lens in infants are described. The detachments were secondary to giant nasal breaks in the retina and appeared to be related to abnormal differentiation of the tertiary vitreous in the third to fourth month of gestation.
