Abstract

Previously, the time of initial infection was considered the sole factor in the production of congenital rubella retinopathy. On the basis of five cases reported here with advancing pigmentary changes in their retina associated with congenital rubella, it is suggested that there may be an additional factor; that the retinopathy is a progressive disorder which may not become demonstrable until after birth.
