A new method of objective ocular refractometry is a higher development of streak and cylinder retinoscopy. Its main asset is precision, made possible by a critical light phenomenon in the pupil, indicating exactly the point of reversal, and by the coincidence of three sharp lines, determining the axis of astigmatism. A simple practical embodiment is described, but different improved technical modalities are possible, enhancing still more the speed and ease of operation.
