This year again the Year Book is a superb selection of new developments in ophthalmology with critical and pertinent remarks by the editor. The Year Book has developed into an annual review of the ophthalmic literature that not only selects the most important articles, but also publishes critical comments whenever indicated or necessary. It is to the credit of the editor that the Year Book has gained such high stature and great importance in the ophthalmic community.
Many of the chapters are introduced by a short preface written by an ophthalmologist who is particularly interested in that field. Most informative among these introductory statements are the ones by Robert Moses on glaucoma, who discusses the variability in the C-value in Goldmann's equation. A good survey is also given by Robin and Ellis on the developments in pilocarpine therapy.
