This edition of a noted ophthalmic text on the fundamentals of ocular therapeutics has reached a high level of refinement. The author has accomplished the formidable task of condensing the myriad of ocular therapeutic agents available to a practical and useful number. Sections from previous editions have been updated and rewritten.

The material is presented in two major divisions. The first portion deals with the management of the majority of commonly encountered ocular diseases. The sections on diseases are tabulated in a systematic fashion, based on the particular anatomical site involved. The individual disease entities are briefly sketched, with ample discussion given of the most widely accepted—as well as investigative—treatment regimens. Two new chapters have been added that deal with carbonic anhydrase inhibitors and osmotherapeutic and anesthetic agents.
