Abstract

• Proliferating cells of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) formed a simple preretinal membrane growing along vitreous lamellae. The RPE cells maintained a normal orientation, polarization, and intercellular junctions, and may have entered the vitreous through photocoagulated retina.
