Abstract

This is a short introduction to microsurgical techniques as they apply to ophthalmology. The author discusses various models of the operating-room microscope and other microsurgical instruments. There is a contribution by Prof Saiichi Mishima from Tokyo on his model (Topcon) of a surgical microscope.

The text is clear and precise, and the illustrations are superb. This short introduction should be of benefit to every young resident in ophthalmology.
