This atlas richly illustrates one clinical approach to extracapsular cataract extraction and posterior chamber lens implantation. Numerous high-quality color photographs, clearly reproduced and well organized, take the reader through each step in the operation. The most useful photographs are those depicting potential complications as they begin and methods to avoid them. Seven well-known extracapsular surgeons contributed photographs and several chapters to this text. Particularly outstanding is a concise chapter by David McIntyre illustrating his manual technique, which compares and contrasts with Lim's technique.

The sparse text accompanying the photographs is elementary and repetitious. In addition, the few references listed at the end of the book are not cited within the text.
