IN FOCUS: Medical News and Perspectives for Ophthalmologists

Arch Ophthalmol. 1986;104(10):1451. doi:10.1001/archopht.1986.01050220045021
Abstract

This issue of the Archives introduces a new department and a new concept in peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals. The title of the section suggests its purpose, namely, to bring into the reader's field of clear vision issues, events, and concepts that might have otherwise eluded perception and to elucidate them in a fresh and appealing way. IN FOCUS is a monthly section of medical news, intended to provide our readers with timely information, thoughtful perspectives, and informal commentary on current and potential developments affecting the state and practice of ophthalmology specifically and medicine at large. New technologies and techniques, legal and socioeconomic issues, and controversies facing the medical community all will receive coverage in this new department. We will also feature scientific news and advances that we hope will be of interest to our readers but that formerly would have been outside the purview of the journal's original science sections.
