Abstract

King Faisal International Prize Awarded.  —The King Faisal International Prize in the field of medicine was presented to Professor Barrie R. Jones of Moorfields Eye Hospital, Institute of Ophthalmology, London, at a ceremony in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in March 1987. The award consisted of a gold medal and an honorarium of $95 000. The award honored Dr Jones' work in the prevention of blindness.

American Orthoptic Council Examination Announced.  —The American Orthoptic Council has announced its written examination on Thursday, June 18, 1987. Candidates may obtain information and applications from the vice-president of the council, Malcolm L. Mazow, MD, 2855 Gramercy, Houston, TX 77025.
