Abstract

Speaker Announced for The Wilmer Institute Endowed Lectureship.  —The Dana Center for Preventive Ophthalmology has announced that Professor Fred C. Hollows, chairman, Department of Ophthalmology, University of New South Wales, will deliver the Third Mohammed Aziz Memorial Annual Lecture on Blindness in the Tropics on Friday, March 30,1990, at The Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute, The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Md. The title of Professor Hollows' lecture will be "The Prevention of Blindness in the Tropics."

American Academy of Ophthalmology Elects New President.  —George C. Garcia, MD, an eye physician from Boston, Mass, has been named president of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr Garcia will serve with George W. Weinstein, MD, of Morgantown, WVa, the new president-elect. Their election took place during the Academy's 93rd Annual Meeting, October 29-November 2,1989, in New Orleans, La. The meeting was attended by more than 23 000 ophthalmologists and other physicians, health professionals, and guests.
