This volume is a compendium of reports presented at the Third International Congress on the Cornea held in Washington, DC, in the spring of 1987. The participants numbered in the hundreds, including pure basic scientists, clinician-scientists, and pure clinicians, and came from some 28 countries worldwide. The topics discussed ranged from basic science and new technologies to reviews of known clinical entities. There are also reports on recent clinical studies and surgical techniques, as well as preliminary glimpses into areas that have potential importance for future clinical applications.
