The Fight For Sight Research Division of the National Society to Prevent Blindness Announces 1990-1991 Awards.
—Mildred Weisenfeld, founder and executive director of Fight for Sight Inc, and Midge Irvin, president of the National Society to Prevent Blindness, have announced the following scientific research awards approved for funding during 1990-1991: 17 grants-in-aid; 15 postdoctoral research fellowships; and 15 student fellowships. Support was also provided for the special symposium on ocular light damage held on April 29,1990, at the annual meeting of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), Sarasota, Fla. In all, 47 research awards were made, totaling $392 300.The Fight for Sight-Prevent Blindness research awards program is administered by Pamela S. Gerali, director of program services for the National Society to Prevent Blindness. The Research Scientific Advisory Board is chaired by Arthur M. Silverstein, PhD, and includes Arthur H.
