David L. Epstein, MD, Named Chairman of Ophthalmology at Duke University.
—David L. Epstein, MD, Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine and member of the Archives editorial board, has been named Chairman of Duke University Medical Center's Department of Ophthalmology. Dr Epstein began his new duties on June 1, 1992. Prior to joining the UCSF faculty last year, Dr Epstein spent 15 years on the faculty of the Harvard Medical School, Boston, Mass, the last 10 as Associate Professor of Ophthalmology. He also served as ophthalmic surgeon and director of the Glaucoma Service at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr Epstein received his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Md. After completing an internship in medicine at the University of Washington, Seattle, he completed a research fellowship in ocular biochemistry at
