Col Thomas J. Tredici, USAF, MC (Retired), Honored. Col Thomas J. Tredici, MD, USAF, MC (Retired) was recently honored by the Society of USAF Flight Surgeons. He was awarded the Lt Gen George E. Schafer Award for "long-term significant contributions to the vitality and specialty of aerospace medicine." Dr Tredici and his staff, who introduce all

USAF flight surgeons to basic and aerospace ophthalmology, have taught over 10000 USAF physicians since 1964. Following his military retirement as Chief of Aerospace Ophthalmology at the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine in 1987, he returned to the Ophthalmology Branch at Brooks Air Force Base in Texas as Senior Scientist in a civilian capacity.
