Diagnosis and Therapy puts into print the proceedings of the 40th symposium of the New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology held February 22-24, 1991. This broad-ranging text is organized in the same manner as the symposium itself: six sections of related topics are presented in a journal-style fashion, and a roundtable discussion by the invited guest speaker follows each section.The first section appropriately begins by addressing the inherent difficulties and costs of glaucoma screening using the common clinical parameters of tonometry, optic nerve changes, and visual field loss. This is followed by more detailed discussions of optic nerve head assessment and the usefulness of psychophysical and visual field testing in glaucoma.
