This loose-leaf book is divided into six chapters: cataract, cornea, glaucoma, ocular motility, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and retina. These subjects are discussed by the 37 contributing authors along with the two editors. In each section the authors describe their preferred operation in detail, but unfortunately do not depict other surgical options. Following each surgical description are recent related journal article abstracts accompanied by pertinent comments from the contributing author. Complementing the text are many excellent illustrations.
The chapter numbering system is somewhat complicated but necessary to allow for future replacement of pages in the looseleaf binder. The publisher plans to offer subscribers annual updates of replacement chapters or sections containing new text, illustrations, or abstracts with commentary. In addition, with this system the owner can file other pages of references, reprints, or notes as desired. This should permit the book to be kept up-to-date indefinitely.
