Abstract

The effect of acetazolamide on the rate of absorption of clotted hyphemas in rabbits was studied by a radioactive assay technique. The results indicate that acetazolamide, administered intravenously once or twice daily, reduced intraocular pressure but does not enhance hyphema resorption. Hypotony and decreased aqueous secretion do not appear to play an important role in resorption of hyphemas.
