The first case of a giant tear dialysis in the outer layer of presumed senile retinoschisis associated with a true detachment is presented. Trauma could not be implicated as a cause. Since the inner layer of the retinoschisis separated the vitreous from the outer layer giant tear, a conventional scierai buckling was used to reattach the retina and obliterate the schisis cavity.
